Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist, and even a commentator as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. Mitchell graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing in New York City. Mitchell started out as an TV reporter and radio reporter working in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief of the Foreign Affairs department at NBC News. Mitchell has been on the TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debate among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell has a husband, Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for her outstanding performance in journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during both the administrations of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories, including the Iran-contra case and tax reform. She traveled alongside Ronald Reagan during numerous trips to world summits and reported extensively.
